Bradford Kinship carers will lose out alongside its foster carers after Bradford Council voted to cut its fostering allowance.
Kinship carers must be paid the same fostering allowance as foster carers and the SGO Allowance must be tied to the basic fostering allowance.
Commenting Nigel Priestley said "The most vulnerable children will suffer from this decision. It is an appalling step to take. Cutting the level of the fostering allowance on the basis of this spurious argument is wrong. If this was the real reason for the cut, they should have done this in 2010. It is a blatant example of finding a soft target making the weakest bear the brunt of money saving.
Kinship carers are unsung heroes who research confirms often fall into poverty as a result of becoming carers. Council's should be helping not hindering this sacrifice"
THERE were cries of “shame” from foster carers as Council bosses voted to go ahead with controversial cuts to their allowances.
